Frank Warren believes Chisora and Haye should get it on

Andrew Wake | 30.03.12 05:34

Promoter Frank Warren believes that Dereck Chisora and David Haye should settle their differences in the ring. 28-year-old Chisora put in an appeal for the British Boxing Board of Control this week to try and overturn the decision to indefinitely revoke his licence and Warren hopes this will provide the green light for negotiations with Haye. "It's a natural fight, it doesn't matter what anyone says. It's a bigger fight than either of them fighting Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko," Warre...

Buddy McGirt believes Matthew Macklin will become a better fighter after his recent defeat to middleweight number one Sergio Martinez. The Birmingham-born Irishman has come off second best in two success world title tilts, having lost controversially in clash with WBA champion Felix Sturm in German last summer, before being stopped late by Martinez in New York earlier this month. However, McGirt, himself a former world champion, believes that the setbacks not prevent Macklin from reaching ...

According to sources, former GB boxing trainer Terry Edwards could be set to take over as the head coach of the USA's 2012 Olympic squad. It is believed that Edwards, who led Team GB's efforts in Beijing four years ago, is the only viable candidate for the position which became available following Joe Zander's recent dismissal. Israel Acosta and Basheer Abdullah were mentioned as possibilities, but all has gone quiet on those fronts in recent weeks. Acosta is currently club trainer in Wis...

Andrew Wake | 29.03.12 11:47

The WBO has done a u-turn on its previous stance and now approved Germany's Robin Krasniqi as an opponent for WBO light-heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly. The governing body originally rejected Krasniqi for the Welshman but have now agreed to sanction the contest after Cleverly's promoter Frank Warren came to an agreement with them where the Welshman will honour  a mandatory defence with 120 days. The bout will now take place at the Royal Albert Hall on April 28. Cleverly, 2...

Bellew slams Cleverly's choice of opponents

Andrew Wake | 29.03.12 11:38

Tony Bellew has accused light-heavyweight rival Nathan Cleverly of taking easy fights in defence of his WBO title. Bellew, who lost narrowly to Cleverly last October, faces Norwich's big hitting Danny McIntosh in Liverpool on April 13 and believes that is a much tougher fight than the Welshman's upcoming defence against Robin Krasniqi and his last outing against little known American Tommy Karpency. "I'm the one coming off the loss, but I'm fighting a better opponent than him," said Bellew...

The Ricky Hatton Column

Gary Buckland was in another thrilling fight last weekend when he defended his title against Paul Truscott. It was a good win for Gary, who always gives 100 per cent. I am very proud of him and everything he's achieved. He came back from a defeat against John Murray then moved down a weight and went on to win the British title. But I do think his win was over shadowed a little bit by what happened in the fight between Enzo Maccarinelli and Shane McPhilbin. I didn't actually see th...

Norwich's Danny McIntosh isn't looking to go the distance with British light-heavyweight champion Tony Bellew next month. The former European titlist, 32, aims to make a short and brutal night at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Friday April 13. "I wanna smash his face in!" McIntosh exclaimed. "I'm ready to fight now!
