Alexander Alekseev held onto his European cruiserweight
title in Goeppingen, Germany on Friday night by virtue of a
majority draw with former WBA titlist Firat Arslan.
Despite his 41 years, Arslen battled throughout the fight
and even moved through the gears in the latter stages but it was
enough to capture the continental crown as Alekseev also upped his
game to earn a share of the spoils.
One judge scored the fight 116 - 113 to the champion but
he was overruled by two verdicts of 114...

Gavin Rees and Derry Mathews meet again for the European
lightweight belt on the undercard of Kell Brook's July 7 show in
Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, which features another European title
rematch in Kerry Hope vs. Greg Proksa.
Rees and Mathews fought for the Welshman's European title in
Newport in October but the bout was cut short when the Liverpool
challenger broke his nose in the fourth round after an accidental

The all-action Newport

Gavin Rees is relishing defending his European lightweight title
against Anthony Mezaache in Paris on Friday night live on Sky
Sports 4 and HD4 from 9pm - and says victory will prove he is
willing to fight anyone, anywhere.
The Welshman defends the belt for the second time against
Mezaache, the Parisian fighter who won the belt on foreign soil

An interesting fight is going to be staged in Piemonte as
Belgian-based but Italian-born Ermanno Fegatili is going to put on
the line his EBU superfeatherweight title at stake against 33-years
old challenger Antonio De Vitis. This fight is a rematch of a 2007
fight where De Vitis lost.
None of the two fighters have a clean record, as Fegatili has a
25-4-0 record compared to the 22-1-1 of De Vitis. Most

European Super Featherweight champion Ermano Fegatilli is
preparing for the first defence of his title when he fights Antonio
De Vitis on February 24th.
Fegatilli caused a big shock when he beat Stephen Foster junior
in Bolton almost exactly a year ago. His opponent this time
has an impressive record of 22-1-1 but the champion is
