K2 Promotions managing director Tom Loeffler believes Gennady
Golovkin has become the world's number one middleweight by being
more active than his rivals.
The German-based Kazakhstani defends his WBA and IBO crowns
against Birmingham's Matthew Macklin in Mashantucket, Connecticut
on June 29.
And Loeffler feels him engaging in his fourth fight in less than
ten months has made him the 160lb king by default. He also feels
that others are blatantly avoiding a showdown with
"Genn...

Matthew Macklin will face undefeated WBA and IBO middleweight
champion Gennady Golovkin in Mashantucket, Connecticut on June
29.
The Birmingham-born Irishman lost out in world title
challenges to Felix Sturm and Sergio Martinez so will be hoping
that this is a case of third time lucky.
Golovkin, a Kazak now based in Germany, has been little
short of sensational since turning pro in 2006, stopping 23 of his
26 opponents.
"Golovkin hasn't put a foot wrong yet as a pro. He's
de...

WBA and IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in New York on

Ishida inside three rounds in Monte Carlo.
However, he is looking to get back in the ring quickly and
Macklin fits the bill as an opponent.

Matthew Hatton battled gamely but ultimately failed to wrestle
the IBO welterweight crown from Chris van Heerden in South Africa
last night.
"Magic" Matthew made the bright start, landing to the body
and slipping a few right hands through the champion's
guard.
However, van Heerden used his size and strength to
outmuscle Hatton on the inside before being rewarded with a
unanimous decision.
The scores of 118-110, 117-112 and 116-112 didn't tell the
full story, though.
Hatto...

if he dares to underestimate him.
The Mancunian faces the British and Commonwealth
middleweight champion at York Hall, Bethnal Green on March 21 and
is determined to cause an upset.
"If he is expecting an easy night and thinks he can just
turn up and beat me, he's in for the shock of his life," he
said.
"People are writing me off because I've had a few bad
nights, but all I say is don't be shocked when I beat him...

Weeks before beginning preparations for his March IBO world
title showdown with Chris Van Heerden, Manchester's Matthew Hatton
has joined forces with Dave Coldwell.
The former European welterweight champion topped one of Coldwell
Boxing's shows back in October when he ruthlessly dismantled
London's Michael Lomax in the opening session and he's happy to
have Coldwell providing direction for his career.
"Me and Dave go back a long way and I trust him 100% to go out
there and do wh...

Matthew Macklin looks likely to be facing former WBC
middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jnr in April.
The Birmingham-born Irishman this week revealed that his
promoter Lou DiBella has opened negotiations with Chavez Jnr's
people and they are confident the fight will be made.
"I am looking to get out again around March/April. Martinez is
fighting someone in Argentina around that time and it's not Chavez
Jnr rematch, so there is a very good chance I will be fighting
Julio Ce...

Throughout the build-up
towards his intriguing eight rounder against Chingford's Micheal
Lomax, former European ruler, Matthew Hatton insisted he had to
look impressive against the past Prizefighter winner.
That statement was brutally
realised as a relentless Hatton forced an opening round
intervention from third man, Steve Gray, after a crunching right
hand to the body sent Lomax sprawling.
The superior height and reach
possessed by Lomax did not come into the fight once as Ha...

Matthew "Buster" Mallin retained his International middleweight
title at the Barnsley Metrodome on Friday night with a ten round
decision over Stoke's Jimmy Doherty.
Unbeaten Mallin, now 8 - 0 (2 KOs), took some time to get into
the contest, missing with his jab and having to take counters in
response.
But he upped the pressure in the third and continued to outwork
his opponent until the final bell.
Referee Michael Alexander scored it 99-93.
A full recording of the fight ca...
