Hypertrophy
There are two different types of muscular hypertrophy:
Sarcoplasmic and Myofibrillar. During Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy, the
volume of Sarcoplasmic Fluid in the muscle cell increases with no
accompanying increase in muscular strength. During Myofibrillar
hypertrophy, Actin and Myosin contractile proteins increase in
number and add to muscular strength as well as a small increase in
the size of the muscle. Sarcoplasmic hypertrophy is characteristic
of the muscles of Bodybuilders while Myofibrillar hypertrophy is
characteristic of Olympic weightlifters or any other Strength
Athlete.
Reduction in Body fat %
In humans, Adipose Tissue is located beneath the skin
(Subcutaneous Fat). Adipose Tissue is found in specific locations,
which are referred to as 'Adipose Depots.' Adipose Tissue contains
several cell types, with the highest percentage of cells being
Adipocytes, which contain fat droplets. Around organs, it provides
protective padding. However, its main function is to be a reserve
of lipids, which can be burned to meet the energy needs of the
body. Adipose depots in different parts of the body have different
biochemical profiles.
