TYKES TO DO BATTLE IN WIGAN
HATTON Promotions fast rising cruiserweight Matty Askin faces
Neil Dawson for the vacant Central Area cruiserweight title next
week in a South Yorkshire derby being settled in Lancashire.
The ten rounder between the unbeaten pair will be staged on the
undercard of Denton Vassell's Commonwealth welterweight title
defence against Bethuel Ushona at Wigan's Robin Park Arena on
Saturday March 26.
Although Askin is billed out of Blackpool he comes from
Barnsley, while Dawson comes from 14 miles down the M1 in
Rotherham.
Both men are also unbeaten in nine fights and while the winner
can look forward to a British title eliminator, the loser faces a
rebuilding job.
Askin, 22, predicted: "One of us will lose our unbeaten record
and it won't be me."
Dawson, 30, returned after a five-and-a-half year layoff last
month and shook off the rust forcing Mark Lewis to quit after two
rounds.
He said: "I look at the ratings and I feel confident that I can
beat any of the big name fighters in the cruiserweight
division.
"I am still young compared to a lot of fighters in the division
and I am maturing later."
Other action packed clashes feature Tom Doran Adam Little, Rhys
Roberts. Jez Wilson, Jazza Dickinson and Tom Shaw
