Bury's Scott Quigg secured his first title when he knocked out Argentine import Santiago Allione at 2.03 of the third round at the Castle Leisure Centre.

A heavy right hand glanced off the top of the South American's head and sent him face first to the canvas, where he was duly counted out by Terry O'Connor.

Quigg had been looking for the big punches from the opening bell and checked Allione's resolve several times with clean hooks to the jaw.

"Hopefully I put on a good performance and I enjoyed myself in there," Quigg said.

"He caught me a few times but it's something new and he's got a different style so it took me a couple of rounds to figure him out. Brian Hughes asked between rounds if he'd hurt me and I said no so he told me to put it on him."

Sheffield fireman Jez "Smokin" Wilson and Birmingham's Max Maxwell battled to an entertaining draw.

Both fighters took in turns to dictate the action and had fans "oohing" and "arhing" with viciousness of their assaults. Referee John Latham had it 58 points each and a rematch is a must.

Former Commonwealth gold medallist Kenny Anderson halted Sheffield's Carl Wild with 15 seconds remaining in the fifth of six-threes encounter.

Wild, a binman by day, had been doing quite well until Anderson landed a combination to the body before snapping the Yorkshireman's head back with a right uppercut.

Kenny is now 12-0 and is targeting a showdown with either Commonwealth super-middleweight champion George Groves or British ruler Paul Smith.
