Two perfectly timed punches to the ribs sapped the fight out of
Walsall southpaw Bobby Wood and earned Sheffield prospect Adam
Etches another early win.
The 20-year-old had stalked his foe around the ring before
detonating the punches that closed the show at just 2.07 of the
first round.
It was an excellent way for Etches to return to action after
injury had prevented him appearing on the massive Amir Khan - Paul
McCloskey bill at the MEN Arena in April.
He'll return to the ring early in the new season and hopes to
then score his fifth victory.
Sheffield's boxing binman Carl 'born 2 be' Wild got back to
winning ways with a deserved four rounds with Derby's Elvis
Dube.
The tall Yorkshireman had to absorb some wicked hooks to the
body in the opening session before controlling the middle rounds a
stiff jab.
The final session turned into something resembling trench
warfare but Wild had the final say in the majority of exchanges and
was handed a 40-37 verdict by referee Michael Alexander.
Debutant Scott Jenkins got to the right start by punching out a
shutout, 40-36, win over Trowbridge's durable Dan Carr.
Jenkins, 20, dominated each of the four sessions and landed
blows heavy enough to end many fights, but Carr hung on to ear the
final bell sound.
The show was organised by Hatton Promotions Director of Boxing
Richard Poxon in aid of Sheffield's Weston Park Hospital.
