Rochdale born Mark Thompson obliterated Danny Parkinson inside of a round, and now has his sights firmly set on British welterweight champion Kell Brook, as he said prior to the contest, “I’m overdue the shot.”
A big left hook, midway through the opener, sent Parkinson reeling and a barrage of punches against his cornered foe, forced referee Steve Gray to dive in, stopping it at 2 minutes 19 seconds of round number one.
The Rochdale man increases to 22-1, with 14 inside the distance, whilst Parkinson drops to 12-4.
