One of the greatest Welsh boxers of all time, Jack Petersen has
been honoured by his home city of Cardiff, with a plaque recalling
his achievements.
Petersen was the first Welsh boxer to win both the British Light
Heavyweight & Heavyweight titles during his short career in the
1930s. He successfully defended the Lonsdale belt eight
times. At his peak crowds of over 50,000 would turn up to
watch him fight at Ninian Park.
Now Cardiff City Council has recognised his importance to the
city by installing a blue plaque in St John Street outside the
building which used to be his gym.
Hatton TV's Nigel Turner has been to Cardiff to find out more
about this remarkable boxer.
