George Groves' first Commonwealth Super Middleweight title defence has been called off after challenger James Obede Toney failed his pre-fight medical. He's got a cataract problem which is causing problems with his vision.
With no replacement available promoters Hayemaker were forced to call of the show scheduled for york Hall, Bethnall Green.
Understandably Groves was the most dissapointed of anyone :"I'm gutted," he said "This was going to be a great show, this wasn't a deadpan night, there were some good fights on the undercard and I was really looking forward to it.
"We had put a lot of mileage into this, a lot of hard work and effort. I've been training hard for 10 weeks and this night had been a long time coming. It was sold out and was going to be fantastic."
As compensation Groves will now fight on the undercard, of David Haye's world title defence against Audley Harrison with the search now on to find him a suitable opponent.
