Boxing fans have been given the chance of own piece of history
this week.
The house in Louisville, Kentucky where Muhammad Ali grew up has
gone on the market with an asking price of just $50,000.
The property is a small white house with a sagging front porch
overhang and is situated along a tree-lined neighbourhood made up
of neat but modest homes.
At the front of the house is a state historical marker
recognising that it is the place where the legendary heavyweight
spent his boyhood.
The marker says that it was at this home that boxer's "values
were instilled".
Greg Fischer, the mayor of Louisville, has said that the city is
interested in preserving the home of its most famous son
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer said the city has an interest in
preserving the home of a world-famous native son.
"Anything we can do to preserve and expand his legacy, we want
to do that," he stated.
"His home serves as an inspiration for people to look at that
and say, 'If this young guy, why not me?'"
