Welsh dragon Fred Evans has roared into the Sunday's Olympic
final by beating world one Taras Shelestyuk at the ExCel Centre
this evening.
The welterweight, 21, opened up an early lead and had ensure he
kept a cool head as his Ukrainian foe charged forwards looking to
make up the deficit.
In the end Evan's smart moves were telling and he prevailed by
way of a 11-10 verdict.
He told BBC Sport after the fight: "I had a game plan and had a
point to prove. I stuck to the game plan and I knew I had to be
on
top form and couldn't switch off.
"As soon as the bell goes and you hear the crowd it gives you a
lift. The support is unbelievable."
He will now face Serik Sapiyev of Kazakhstan in Sunday's
final.
