Grzegorz Proksa's WBA and IBO World middleweight title fight
with Gennady Golovkin will be aired on Sky Sports 4HD at 8.30am on
Sunday September 2.
European champ Proksa travels to New York to face the unbeaten
Kazakhstan star, who fights in America for the first time. Golovkin
has a formidable record of 20 KOs from 23 fights and is
making the fourth defence of his WBA belt and the third of the
IBO strap.
Proksa avenged the sole defeat on his record when he reclaimed
his European strap against Kerry Hope in a rematch between the pair
on July 7, with Welshman Hope getting stopped in the eighth round
at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield, the same venue Proksa had been
stunned by losing a majority decision to Hope four months
earlier.
The signs of a knockout night in the Big Apple are there, with
the Surrey-based Pole claiming 21 of his 28 wins inside the
distance, and the 27 year old is confident he can add Golovkin's
name to his KO record and return home with the belts.
"I have no doubt in my mind that I have the ability to knockout
Golovkin," said Proksa. "My opportunity to showcase my talents to
the world has arrived and I'm not going to let it slip away.
This will be a difficult fight but I believe in myself to come out
victorious and I'm going to bring an aggressive game plan for the
fans. I'm coming to the US to impress and take home the
title."
