Cuban sensation Guillermo Rigondeaux will make the second
defence of his WBA super-bantamweight crown against tough Texan
Robert Marroquin next month.
The contest will form the chief supporting bout on the
undercard of Sergio Martinez versus Julio Cesar Charvez Jnr at the
Thomas & Mack Centre in Las Vegas on September 15.
"Marroquin feels he can beat him and he really wanted this
fight. He is up for this kind of challenge," promoter Bob Arum told
ESPN.
"Rigondeaux is probably one of the best fighters around,
but one thing is even if he's one of the best fighters around, he's
a little chinny and Marroquin can hit pretty good."
The bill will also see Birmingham's Matthew Macklin duking
it out with former WBA light-middleweight champion Joachim
Alcine.
It will be Macklin's first outing since his gutsy world
title challenge against Sergio Martinez in March.
