Juan Carlos Salgado
successfully defended his IBF super-featherweight title on Saturday
night.
The 27-year-old, making his
third defence, outworked Argentina's tough Jonathan Barrios to take
a unanimous (116-111 twice and 115-112) decision.
Salgado, now 26 - 1 - 1 (16
KOs) sustained a cut from a clash of heads early in the contest but
stuck to his boxing to take the verdict.
It is rumoured that Salgado's next defence will come against
Cuban sensation Yuriorkis Gamboa, who has recently signed with
Floyd Mayweather and 50 Cent's promotions outfit TMT
Promotions.
