Jose Sulaiman, president of the World Boxing Council (WBC) has
announced that the Mexico City-based sanctioning body will unveil a
new electronic scoring device at its upcoming convention.
Sulaiman says that in 90 per cent of rounds, judges post scores
of 10-9 and don't give consideration to whether the round was close
or one-sided.
Indeed, he feels that judges are often too scared to score
rounds 10-8 unless a knockdown has occurred.
It is hoped that the new device, which the WBC has been
developing for more than two years, will help to eradicate this
issue.
