Vitali Klitschko retained his WBC
heavyweight crown in disappointing fashion last night when a bad
cut sustained by challenger Manuel Charr ended things in the fourth
round.
Rumours have been circulating for some
time that this could be the giant Ukrainian's swansong but he'll
surely want to bow out in a grander manner than this.
That said, Klitschko did dominate the
contest before its premature end.
In the second round, Charr had also found
himself looking up from the canvas after Klitschko detonated a left
hook.
And it was a similar blow which opened up
the laceration over Charr's right eye two rounds later.
"I'm disappointed I didn't manage to win
the fight with a real knockout," Klitschko said.
"Sadly, it was the doctor's decision. We
both wanted to continue the fight."
