WBA 'regular' champion Alexander Povetkin needed just two rounds
to blast out former heavyweight kingpin Hasim Rahman in Germany on
Saturday night.
It was clear that 39-year-old Rahman was past his prime from the
off and Povetkin soon had him stumbling from a left hook.
And a round later it was all over. Povetkin trapped his foe
against the ropes and fired off punches until referee Gustavo
Padilla decided to intervene.
British boxers Mark Thompson and Martyn Grainger both felt the
pain of defeat on the undercard.
Thompson outboxed unbeaten Jack Culcay for four rounds before
being controversially stopped in the fifth, while Grainger dropped
a six rounds points decision David Graf.
