Scott Quigg has been named as the Young Boxer of the Year by the
Boxing Writer's Club.
The unbeaten 23-year-old from Bury has beaten off the likes of
Carl Frampton, Kid Galahad and Tyson Fury to take the accolade.
Quigg, 24 - 0 - 1 (17 KOs), won the British super-bantamweight
title in October last year when he defeated Jason Booth and he has
since successfully defended the bauble against Jamie Arthur.
His next fight will see him engage in a rematch with Leicester
southpaw Rendall Munroe on the undercard of Ricky Hatton's clash
with Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Manchester Arena on November
24.
The pair met for the WBA interim title in June but the fight
ended prematurely when Munroe sustained a major laceration above
his right eye from a clash of heads in the third round.
Quigg will receive his award at a gala dinner in London on
October 15.
