It seems that Nathan Cleverly will not be defending his WBO
light-heavyweight title when boxes on the undercard of Abner Mares'
clash with Anselmo Moreno in Los Angeles on November 10.
The unbeaten Welsh ace was set to make the third defence of his
crown unbeaten Ryan Coyle, but the bout is now off because the
little-known American has a contractual issue with Don King.
Cleverly is still set to appear on the card, but will likely
engage in a ten round non-title fight.
"That is dead and gone for now - maybe in the future,"
Cleverly's trainer and father Vince told BBC Sport.
"Nathan's promoter, Frank Warren, is in negotiations with a
couple of other fighters but I don't know who as yet."
"He has trained hard for a 12-rounder and desperately wants a
world title fight.
"I don't think he'd be really happy with a 10-rounder but if he
had to, he'd take it."
