Kevin Hooper largely dispelled the prediction that his fight
with Amir Unsworth was going to be a 50-50 by claiming a wide
points win.
Hooper claimed the Midlands Area lightweight crown after putting
on a classy boxing display at Humberston's Beachcomber Club.
Sleaford's Unsworth allowed Hooper to get into a rhythm in the
early stages and Hooper, who is now 13 unbeaten, never surrendered
his dominance.
The scoring was possibly harsh on Unsworth but Hooper was a clear
winner thanks to punishing one-two combinations and slick defensive
work.
Unsworth could have done more to test management stablemate Hooper
and will regret the fact that he didn't let shots go when he was
within range.
The fight doubled up as an English title eliminator and Hooper
would be well-backed in any fight of that magnitude.
