An interesting fight is going to be staged in Piemonte as
Belgian-based but Italian-born Ermanno Fegatili is going to put on
the line his EBU superfeatherweight title at stake against 33-years
old challenger Antonio De Vitis. This fight is a rematch of a 2007
fight where De Vitis lost.
None of the two fighters have a clean record, as Fegatili has a
25-4-0 record compared to the 22-1-1 of De Vitis. Most
interestingly, none of the two contenders are hard hitters as they
have just 4 and 11 KO's in their record and it is very unlikely
that this fight will end up in blood or with a spectacular KO. De
Vitis comes up as the favourite as he is recognized as the most
talented man between the two, still, this fight poses many
questions for him as his only loss (2007 via MD) has come against
then-unknown Fegatili.
It is clear that, as both the most talented between the two, De
Vitis is the favourite. Still, Fegatili has on average faced better
opponents and has more experience, and it is unclear how and if the
challenger is going to suffer the fact to be the older fighter in
the ring this Saturday.
If De Vitis is going to win he will very well have some
interesting opportunities as at the European level the division is
not crowded with champions: the only man to be recognized by the
media as a champion is another Italian, Devis Boschiero, the same
man who has battled and lost a controversial decision against WBC
champion Ao.
