Paul Williams will be the next man to attempt to snap the
unbeaten record of Mexican sensation Saul Alvarez.
Golden Boy Promotions have confirmed that bout, which will see
Alvarez put his WBC light-middleweight crown on the line, will take
place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on September 15.
30-year-old Williams will certainly be a stern test for the man
nicknamed 'Canelo'. The southpaw from Augusta, Georgia has won 41
of his 43 professional bouts and is a former welterweight world
champion.
His last victory came in February this year when he defeated
Japan's Nobuhiro Ishida on points after 12 rounds.
"This is a super-fight," Golden Boy chief executive Richard
Schaefer said. "The people I've spoken to can't wait for this one:
another big test for Canelo."
