In front of a full house, in the city sport hall of
Petropavlovsk (Kazakhstan), current EE-EU bantamweight champion
Zhanat ZHAKIYANOV knocked out impressively game
Thai boxer Noppadol KHONGCHANA at two minutes and twenty
second of the first round in a contest for the WBC Asian
bantamweight title.
Kongchana remained inconscious for several minutes, attended
by the paramedics in the ring, but hopefully was able then to walk
back to the dressing room.
The event, co-promoted by Hatton Promotion and Kazak promoter
Yerik Jailauov, was the first ever professional boxing
promotion to take place in the city of Petropavlovsk, in the North
of Kazakhstan.
Nevertheless the outside temperature of - 27°C, the public
came in number to support their local hero, as the full capacity of
the hall was reached with more than a thousand attendants.
Zhanat ZHAKIYANOV said that his next objective is to bring
back the European bantamweight title to his home city and
hopes to challenge Jamie Mc Donnell in the very near future for the
EBU title.
