Jeffrey Mathebula, the former IBF super-bantamweight champion,
is recovering after undergoing surgery to his jaw.
The South African had his jaw broken in two places when losing
his title to Nonito Donaire at the Home Depot Centre in Carson,
California on July 7.
His promoter, Branco Milenkovic, said that the injury occurred
somewhere between the fourth and seventh rounds but Mathebula still
managed to fight until the end of the 12th round.
"His jaw was broken in two places," Milenkovic said. "He will
not be able to go to the gym for at least two months, according to
the specialist. I hope to give him a fight at the end of the
year."
