Brian Magee is now preparing to fight for the vacant WBA
super-middleweight title against as yet to be confirmed opponent
after Karoly Balzsay pulled out of the contest and was forced to
relinquish the crown.
The German-based Hungarian sustained a back injury some months
ago and is unable to honour is mandatory defence against the
Belfast southpaw.
Manager Pat Magee is now searching for a new opponent and the
bout is likely to take place in either October or November.
"The situation is that Balzsay had had to withdraw due to a long
standing injury but Brian remains the number one contender," he
said.
"As we won the purse bids the situation is still in our hands
and we must find an opponent for Brian that meets with the approval
of the WBA so we can fight for the vacant title."
